Youth Activities

Young people on Portland have a variety of outlets for their talents and energy. Among these are the newly rebuilt YMCA in Reforne, the Islanders Club for Young People at the Royal Manor School, The Islanders Boy's Club on Verne common, the junior section of the Royal Manor Theatre, Portland Athletics Club, The Sea Cadets, Army Cadet Force, Guides and Brownie groups and the Dolphins swimming club. The Island's terrain provides ample opportunity for a variety of adventurous outdoor activities.

"Connexions"

"Connexions" is a new service for all young people aged 13-19 to help them realise their full potential and achieve success in learning, work and life. It will provide high quality, impartial and co-ordinated services ranging from provision of information to careers guidance and referral to other agencies. "Connexions" Support Advisors will be available at The Open Arms, Eaton Square between 2.00-5.00pm every Thursday. We can give information and advice on issues such as job search, careers, CV production, benefits, Modern Apprenticeships and much more, so please drop in, no appointment needed."
