The Island of Portland is part of the Weymouth West section which is led by Inspector Tony Rudd.
The Island has six officers, dedicated to the policing of the Island, who are based at Southwell Business Park at the top of the Island. These officers are supported by 35 other section officers who are based at Weymouth West police station in
Radipole Lane, Chickerell, Dorset DT4 9WW.
Please remember that the
999 system should be used for emergency calls only.
For all other calls please dial 01305 226601.

Crime on the Island is relatively low compared to national averages and the officers of the section are determined to ensure that all the people on the Island, be they residents, workers or visitors, can go about their business without the fear of crime spoiling their enjoyment. A combination of enhanced foot patrols and designated Home Beat Officers help to provide reassurance and a visible presence. However, everyone can play their part in preventing crime by following these few simple guidelines.

A new station is being built on Osprey Quay which will be manned by six officers dedicated to Portland.
