Food & Drink

Portland has a variety of eating places, from small cafes, to pubs, restaurants and the Portland Heights Hotel.

The Island’s cafes are spread throughout the villages.
In Chesil there is the “Bluefish” cafe/restaurant, the “Golden Bridge Chinese Take Away”, and the “Cafe India”.
Moving on through Fortuneswell the “Cosy Cafe” provides lunches, teas and snacks.
On tophill, Easton has a variety of food outlets including a fish and chip shop, Indian take-away and Chinese take-away. The “Sugar Loaf” serves hot and cold food, and “Miss Piggy’s Pantry” offers baguettes, baked potatoes, rolls, pies, pasties and children’s lunch-boxes, along with fresh baked bread and cakes.

In Weston “Vaughan’s ” serves excellent sea food, and a variety of dishes and wines at reasonable prices. There is also a fish and chip shop.
At Portland Bill, the long established and very popular “Lobster Pot” specialises in cream teas and crab sandwiches, and caters for visiting coaches.

For three course a la carte meals visit the restaurant in the Portland Heights Hotel.

Southwell Business Park’s “Park Restaurant” is open to the public, and is available for private bookings.

Almost all the public houses on Portland offer a wide range of food. See our section on Portland Pubs.

Visitors and locals alike will find eating and drinking on Portland a pleasant experience, often enhanced by spectacular sea views.
